Drowning incident was reported to the Kibiri Police Station in the Busabala-Kazi area of the Makindye Ssabagabo Division of the Wakiso District.
The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday at or about 1:00 PM. The police arrived at the scene without delay.
According to the information that is now available, Kusasira Moses, a 9-year-old pupil at Busabala Primary School and a resident of the Busabala-Kazi zone, went swimming with his 6-year-old sister, Joy Angel Namanya, who is also a student at the same school, along the beaches of Lake Victoria.
Tragically, Kusasira Moses perished while they were swimming, despite their father, Kyakuwa Moses, a 46-year-old bodaboda rider, urging them repeatedly not to swim alone.
An investigation into a case of suspected drowning that was reported to the Kibiri Police Station is now underway.
The Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended, analyzed, recorded, and drew the incident’s scene.
While Joy Angel Namanya, the survivor, was sent to Mulago Hospital for more medical care, the deceased’s body was taken to the municipal morgue for autopsy.
Relevant witnesses, including the deceased’s biological father, have given statements that have been recorded and ongoing investigations are being carried out to learn more about this situation.
“The police advise the general public, in particular parents and guardians, to exercise caution when youngsters participate in activities involving water and to safeguard their safety by providing enough supervision.
