Kanungu District Speaker Frank Byaruhanga’s car was set on fire, and police in the district are searching for the unidentified attackers.
The son of Byaruhanga, Ndyabahaki Ronald, heard a huge bang in Ruyayo village, Kihihi ward, Kihihi town council, last night at about 11:30 PM.
Upon inspection, he discovered their vehicle (registration number UAX 023S) on fire, with two men fleeing the scene.
Ndyabahaki tried to put out the fire, but it kept getting worse.
Elly Maate, a spokesman for the Kigezi Region Police, verified the occurrence and said that officers, under the direction of Asp Tumukunde Emmanuel OC, promptly secured the area.
Despite the deployment of investigators and the Kihihi police dog, according to Maate, no suspects have been taken into custody since the investigation is ongoing.
