Police in western Uganda are looking into a shooting incident in which unidentified gunmen stole Shs25 million from a store while wearing army fatigues.
On October 29, 2023, at around 9 p.m., the event took place in the Katooke Trading Center in the Kyenjojo District.
Based on police-obtained CCTV footage, three robbers, all dressed in UPDF uniforms and carrying AK-47 SMG rifles, broke into a store owned by 35-year-old John Rwatooro and stole the cash.
In the same district, the victim resides in Katooke Town Council.
Vicent Twesige, a spokesman for Rwenzori West Police, stated that “the gunmen overpowered the shop owner and stole the money upon entering the shop.”
The store that was attacked is situated on Katooke-Hoima Road.
According to police records, Rwatooro, who was unharmed in the event, reported to Kyenjojo Police Station at around 09:32 a.m. the following day.
As of right now, the matter has been assigned to the Katooke Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by police, who have also launched an inquiry file and begun an investigation.
