Following the recent presence of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Kasese, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has urged the populace to exercise caution regarding security.

In yesterday’s sermon at the fundraising service and one-year anniversary celebration of St. Mark Nyakijumba Church of Uganda Parish in Southern division Kabale municipality, where Christians are battling to raise 130 million shillings to purchase a nearby commercial building to improve church financial stability, Bishop Akanjuna made this call.

Bishop Akanjuna warned that because Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) borders many places of Uganda, people must be careful about security and be aware of terrorists.

He urged everyone to be security conscious among their neighbors and, wherever possible, to start going home.

After the event, Eng. Peter Nkurunungi, who also serves as the director of Gesis Construction Company limited and a Synod member of St. Mark Nyakijumba Church of Uganda Parish, revealed to our reporter that the church is in the process of purchasing a 130 million shilling commercial building home to improve church financial status though little money has been raised.

He asked for a collaborative effort to achieve this development, where about 40 million shillings was collected in the past.
