In an unexpected turn of events, Buganda Road Court has ordered police to detain People’s Front for Transition leader Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and his co-accused counterpart Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku with immediate effect.
The two are blamed for choosing not to appear in court after receiving bail for charges of illegal assembly and inciting violence last year.
The charges came after their protests over the exorbitant living expenses that had decimated the economy the previous year were put on hold.
Dr. Besigye, who is available in the nation, did not attend the sessions today Thursday.
