Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, a member of parliament (MP) representing Kira Municipality, has been fired from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s whip position.

A letter from the FDC secretary-general, Mr. Nandala Mafabi, to Speaker of Parliament Anita Among states that Yusuf Nsibambi has been named the party’s whip with immediate effect, taking the place of Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.

“In accordance with section 6 (I), the party hereby appoints Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi as the Party Whip of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to replace Hon Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda,” the letter reads in part.

The firing occurs as internal disputes within the party over “dirty money” claims are escalating.

The arguments began when Ssemujju, the party spokesperson who also doubles as party president, accused Mafabi and Mr. Patrick Amuriat of accepting donations from President Museveni to support their 2021 campaigns.
