The casualty toll in the recent Kasese terror incident by alleged Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists has grown to 44, according to police.

According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, one of the most recent victims, Mbambu Felistus, a 50-year-old female adult, died from her injuries sustained in the terror assault at Bwera Hospital.

He further stated that a decomposed body of a female victim was discovered in DR Congo by UPDF soldiers who are still on the hunt for the ADF insurgents.

He informed that the number of those killed in the school terror assault has now grown to 44.

According to Enanga, the victim’s body was brought to the mortuary at Muhoti Military Hospital for further DNA testing and comparison.

“We reiterate that there is no justification for terrorism, particularly against innocent schoolchildren and other civilians,” Enanga stated.

He described the targeting of innocent bystanders as heinous and cowardly.

“As a country, we continue to acknowledge an outpouring of condolences from several world leaders.”  We appreciate them all for expressing their support for us in our fight against all forms of terrorism and for sharing their sadness with us.”

According to the police spokesperson, the Joint Security Agencies remain committed in their commitment to combating terrorism and violent extremism against people.
