President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has finally fulfilled his pledge of Ugx. 5M as condolence for each of the three flood victims in Bwambara Sub County Rukungiri district that happened about two month ago.
The money was delivered yesterday Saturday 24th June 2023 by the minister of security who doubles as the area member of parliament for Rujumbura constituency Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi.
Three individuals were killed in the catastrophe on April 29, 2023, and significant damage was done to crops, gardens, and property.
Edson Ngabirano, 39, Francis Kabale, 79, and Bonniconcillah Kyabasasaki, 65, were named among the deceased.
While handing over the money to the three family member s of those who lost their loved ones at Rukungiri Inn, in Rukungiri municipality, Minister Jim Muhwezi described the occurrence as regrettable and it is partly caused by failure of people the seriousness on protecting the environment.
Since the beneficiary families have personally experienced its adverse effects, Minister Muhwezi urged them to serve as environmental protection ambassadors.

Representatives from the recipient families thanked the government for caring about them, especially during the difficult times when they lost the family members, and they vowed to work tirelessly to safeguard the environment to avert similar negative impacts in the future.
