RUKUNGIRI: Buhunga residents declare Minister Jim Muhwezi sole candidate come 2026 general elections over his tremendous work

Residents of Buhunga Sub County in Rukungiri district are praising Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, their area Member of Parliament, saying he is a man of his word.

This comes after donations of over 1,140 timbers to Nyarubare Catholic Church and 268 iron sheets valued at over Ugx. 12M to be used in roofing Rwabagumira Catholic Church, both in Buhunga Sub County Rukungiri district.

In keeping with his resolve to encourage effective service delivery to his electorate during general elections in 2021, Minister Jim Muhwezi gave donations to these churches.

The team led by Minister Jim Muhwezi’s political assistant Isaac Kaharuza, advisor Mzee Silver Rukarama, vice chairperson Rukungiri district Mrs. Nahwera Santrinah, chairperson Lc3 Buhunga Sub County Benon Mugisha also known as Aunt, and Madam Toppie Kangye, the coordinator for Hon. Jim in Buhunga Sub County, presented the items to the Christians.

Baguma Stephen, Kyohirwe Generous, and Banyenzaki Banard, three church leaders who spoke on behalf of Christians, thanked Hon. Jim Muhwezi for the support during the item handover.

They stated that although it was difficult to obtain these iron sheets for their extended church roof, it will be simpler to proceed with other projects now that the minister has provided them with iron sheets.

Rev. Fr. Byomuhangyi John Fisher the Parish Priest Rutooma expressed thanks to Minister Jim Muhwezi for his support of church initiatives and Christians in general, which is enhancing the parish’s visibility.

Isaac Kaharuza, the political assistant to Minister Jim Muhwezi, said on behalf of the minister that the minister is dedicated to working with the church to grow for the good of Christians and the entire God’s kingdom.

Honorable Jim Muhwezi called on all faiths to promote harmony within their own societies, stressing the need of uniting as fellow believers.

He highlighted Hon. Jim Muhwezi’s commitment to the area’s development and asked them to continue supporting him for the benefit of the community as a whole, even in the event of the general elections in 2026.

The vice chairperson LC5 Rukungiri district, Nahwera Santrinah, praised Minister Jim Muhwezi for his heart of generosity and support for his people, something that some politicians find uncommon.

She also stated that because of the good work the Minister has done in the area, the people of Buhunga will name him the only candidate for the general elections in 2026 in order to maintain the provision of better services.

Silver Rukarama, an elder, who also serves as Minister Jim Muhwezi’s political adviser, revealed that Muhwezi has made significant contributions to church projects in the area including the recent donation of Ugx. 18M to purchase three doors for Rutooma Catholic Parish and donation of Ugx. 5OM to roof Rutooma Catholic Church adding that Christians in Buhunga should not take these efforts for granted.

Elder Silver Rukarama expressed gratitude to President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Government for implementing policies that had previously not been used to maintain the nation’s security and tranquility.
