VIDEO: Joy as Rukungiri residents celebrate Jim Muhwezi’s retention as Security Minister

Rukungiri district residents have conveyed their thanks to President of Republic of Uganda, His Excellency Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for re-appointing their beloved, Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, to the position of Minister of Security.

People throughout, especially those in the Rukungiri district, were ecstatic to learn of the President’s cabinet reshuffle on Thursday night of last week.

Following a reorganization, some ministers were replaced with new hires, including Phiona Nyamutoro, Lillian Aber, and Balaam Barugahara, the most well-known event promoter in the country.

In Rukungiri district, voters, particularly the younger generation from both the NRM and the opposition, erupted in applause and yells upon learning that Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, their cherished Area Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, would remain Minister of Security.

Under the direction of a group of young people, Rukungiri NRM beginning with a convoy that blocked all roads leading to the Rukungiri Inn Gardens in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri municipality, foot soldiers thanked the President of Uganda during a function at which Rukungiri Chairperson LC5 was the chief guest.

The gathering was dominated by talks about Minister Muhwezi, as various speakers expressed their gratitude and affection for President Museveni for standing up for their man, Jim Muhwezi.

The chairperson of Lc5 Rukungiri district, Geoffrey Kyomukama, stated in his message that the decision to keep Jim Muhwezi on board is a wonderful expression of Museveni’s affection for the Rukungiri people, for whom the Hon. Jim Muhwezi was a significant political asset at the time.

“Your hard work and selfless service for the electorate and the country has paid off. As Rukungiri district leadership, we congratulate you Minister Jim Muhwezi upon your reappointment as the Minister of Security. Please continue serving diligently.”

Kyomukama declared that they will never stop supporting President Museveni and the NRM party as a sign of gratitude for his compassion for the people of Rukungiri as well as the entire nation.

During the same event, Minister Jim Muhwezi has made significant contributions to the community’s empowerment through service delivery, including support for roads, water, electricity, hospitals, and schools, according to Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen.

“We thank President Museveni for reappointing you. Your reappointment is a sign that President Museveni loves the People of Rukungiri’. RDC Bewayo said.

The chairperson Rukungiri NRM foot soldiers, Edwin Kutesa Kaziriri who organized the event expressed their gratitude to President Museveni for reassigning their minister to the post, since that office is assisting a wide range of Rukungiri residents.

Kutesa went on to say that Minister Jim Muhwezi should be thanked for all of his accomplishments during his tenure as a minister, including his work in the health and education sectors.

He congratulated Jim Muhwezi on his reappointment and sincerely thanked the appointing body. Him and other youth also pledged to support His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with over 95% of the vote in the general elections of 2026.

Some members of the Rukungiri NRM Foot soldiers, such Mugabe Moses and Sonia Akankwatsa, expressed gratitude to President Museveni for keeping Jim as a minister, stating that his reappointment to the Security Ministry is a significant reward for his numerous accomplishments in matters of national security.

Additionally, they pledged to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM community as a whole in the general elections of 2026.
