Rukungiri district leaders commend MECIWEL INVESTMENTS LIMITED for quality work, pledges more contracts

To raise academic standards across the country, parents are urged by Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr. Nsubuga Stephen Bewayo to consistently support the schools where their children attend classes.

RDC Bewayo made the call yesterday, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 while presiding over the ceremonial commissioning of a three-classroom block at Rwentuha Primary School in Rwentuha cell, Rwakirungura Parish in Buyanja Sub County, which has been undergoing renovations.

Mr. Agaba Hilary, the deputy CAO for Rukungiri district, Hon. Musimenta Cledonia, who represented Chairperson Lc5, the district engineer, the district education officer, the leadership of Buyanja Sub County, parents, and members from the foundation body were present at the occasion.

MECIWEL INVESTMENTS LIMITED was given the contract for the school’s renovations at a cost of Ugx. 53 million.

The work’s scope includes replacing the school’s roof, installing glass doors and windows, and scraping off the outdated plaster, among other things.

Speaking to the audience at the commissioning, RDC Bewayo blamed parents for the poor performance of government schools, saying they would prefer their children to rely solely on government subsidies rather than provide financial support for the schools.

According to Bewayo, parents may come to an agreement and contribute money to have school buildings renovated in an effort to give their kids better learning environments.

Nonetheless, he acknowledged MECIWEL INVESTMENTS LIMITED for their excellent job, noting that they delivered value for the money in their Rwentuha Primary School contract and advising them to submit applications for further contracts in the district.

Additionally, Agaba expressed gratitude to MECIWEL INVESTMENTS LIMITED, who had refurbished Rwentuha Primary School, for their excellent job in making the school seem better and urged them to continue the same effort if they get another contract.
