EXCITEMENT: Rukungiri Municipality MP Rutahigwa donates iron sheets, cement to schools

Yesterday, Saturday, June 10, 2023, the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa (OMUTURAGYE), presented 80 iron sheets for the building of the teachers’ house at Rukondo Primary School in the western division of the Rukungiri Municipality.

During the handover ceremony, Hon. Rutahigwa expressed his concerns about the school’s academic performance after hearing from the PTA and Board Chairpersons of Rukondo Primary School, Idi Misho and Frank Begumisa, respectively, that the teachers who travel far distances to attend classes are not being accommodated.

Since it was his constituency, the Hon. Rutahigwa continued, he was compelled to step in and chose to complete the roofing of the house.

He declared that improving the quality of education in Rukungiri Municipality would be a high priority for the nation, saying that it still remained one of his top priorities.

“As a Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, I wish to assure you that we shall leave no stone unturned in our quest to make quality education accessible to every child in our Municipality,” he said.

The legislator urged teachers of Rukondo Primary School to set clear objectives and performance targets to help their school to shine.

Twamubwine Benson the Rukondo Primary School headteacher thanked Hon Rutahigwa for the support noting that they have been challenged with lack of shelter for teachers hence affecting their academic performance.

Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa also contributed a donation of 50 bags of cement on the same day for the renovation of Nyakibale Lower Primary School in the Southern Division Rukungiri municipality.

Dr. Rutahigwa said that the donation was part of his promise to hasten the school’s refurbishment, which was now in need.

In addition to presenting the cement, Hon. Rutahigwa gave students advice on how to conduct themselves in order to become responsible citizens in the future.

Hon. Rutahigwa pleaded with the populace to assist in funding and laboring together to renovate the school.

Byarugaba Henry the Nyakibale Lower Primary School head teacher who received the cement on behalf of the school thanked the MP, for his kind gesture and pledged to use the cement for the intended purpose.
