RUKUNGIRI-The Minister of Security and the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has urged men to always respect and protect the dignity of their wives before the public.
Minister Jim Muhwezi made the revelation yesterday Friday while officiating as the chief guest during the belated Women’s Day celebrations for Rukungiri district held at Rwamagaya Primary School Playground in Ruhinda Sub County Rukungiri district under the theme Invest in Women.
While addressing the congregation, Hon. Jim Muhwezi said that any man with a sound mind should fight hard to protect the image of his wife before the public than shaming her.
“Don’t allow even a friend to disrespect your wife, if you are a man of dignity and integrity you cannot allow such to happen to your wife,” Minister Jim Muhwezi said.
He urged fellow men to stop beating their wives saying such practice promotes gender based violence which should not be entertained.
“I believe in talking but not beating a woman or even a child. Why do you want to beat a woman who is weaker than you” Minister Jim said.
