Canon Benson Turamye organized a mega thanksgiving expressing his gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for reassigning him to the position of Executive Director for Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority.
The function held on Sunday at Rwabukoba Church of Uganda in Ruhinda Sub County Rukungiri district and thereafter, had a special lunch in his home whereby Minister for Security and Rujumbura County area Member of Parliament Hon. Jim Muhwezi was the chief guest.
Benson Turamye’s contract was extended by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and it became effective on April 24, 2024, following its expiration.
Speaking at the event, Can. Turamye stated that President Museveni’s decision to extend his term for an additional three years was a gift from God and should be celebrated because it allowed him to continue serving in the same role despite clocking sixty years.
“My reappointment by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is a symbol of trust and confidence and I promise to serve diligently.” Canon Benson said.
Can. Turamye went on to express gratitude to President Museveni for putting his faith in him to serve the country in this way, stating that he must give thanks to God for that.
He continued by thanking Minister Jim Muhwezi for his support, stating that as a high-ranking government official, he has changed Ruhinda Sub County in terms of service delivery.
Concurrently, Can. Benson Turamye disclosed that he baptized his two grandchildren and combined his gratitude, explaining that it is a blessing from God to be alive and to see grandchildren, for which one should also give thanks.

The chief guest, Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the minister of security, issued a challenge to the working class, asking them to invest in their villages so that their children can grow up well knowing there and known in the community, instead of limiting their life to Kampala.

Despite having a son of soil who ran under the FDC party, Jim Muhwezi praised the people of Ruhinda Sub County for their support, stating that’s why he gives them back in terms of service delivery and asked for their continued support in general elections of 2026.

Mrs. Ruth Turamye the wife to Canon Benson Turamye thanked the husband for the support he gives her as the wife and the family which helps them to last longer in their marriage.

Canon Benson Turamye holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supplies (MCIPS).
