A truck rammed into three houses in Nyamirama sub-county, Kanungu District, killing two persons and injuring five others.
The collision occurred on Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. near Kanibaizo trading center on the Rukungiri-Kihihi route.
The vehicle is owned by China Henan Construction Company (CHICO), which is tarmacking the Rukungiri-Kihihi-Kanungu road.
According to Rudovico Tumuranze, an eyewitness, the vehicle was delivering murram from the quarry in Nyamirama to the Ntungwa Bridge.
He goes on to say that the unidentified driver of the speeding truck hit a hump and lost control, crashing into three nearby houses.
He claims that the truck driver and a child who was inside the house died on the scene, while five other individuals who were sleeping in the houses were injured.
He feels the driver may have dozed off while driving.
Local authorities in Kanungu District have long accused CHICO drivers of speeding, violating traffic laws, and driving trucks in DMC.
