Minister for security who is also the Rujumbura County area Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has urged people to join the money economy in order to fight poverty and create wealth.

Minister Jim Muhwezi made the call today while speaking to Christians of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry in Nyakagyeme Sub County Rukungiri district when Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe of North Kigezi diocese was confirming Christians into Anglican faith.

During the service at Kasoroza Church of Uganda, Jim Muhwezi addressed the congregation and challenged people to quit working for their stomachs and to fully join in the money economy.

Muhwezi states that the tasks that need to be prioritized going forward are fully monetizing the economy by enlisting all families in commercial endeavours like ICT, agriculture, among others.

He said that families should stop the system of working for their stomach only without thinking about earning money in the long run.

In the meantime, Minister Jim Muhwezi sent greetings from her wife, Canon Suzan Muhwezi, to the Christians of the Nyakagyeme archdeaconry and the whole North Kigezi Diocese, stating that she is determined to work even harder on the on-going construction of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano and the Kasoroza Church of Uganda.

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe of the North Kigezi Diocese urged Christians in the Archdeaconry and throughout the diocese to take up coffee farming during the event, as it will enhance household income and so aid in the growth of the Church.

As education is the only guarantee a parent can give their child for a bright future, Bishop Onesimus urged Christians to educate their children.

He expressed his gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for designating Hon. Jim as the Minister of Security, someone who works relentlessly to uphold religious tolerance.
