Kumi RDC warns of surge in HIV/AIDS Infections during the Festive season


The youth in Kumi district have been cautioned against practices that may lead to one contracting HIV/AIDS.

The Resident District Commissioner Kumi, Ahamada Washaki during the HIV/AIDS performance review meeting urged the community to be vigilant during and after the festivities.

“Lets take care of ourselves during this festive season, let’s not indulge in activities that expose us to HIV/AIDS “. said Washaki

The RDC said this is in line with the government programme of 95,95,95 fast track presidential initiative of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.

According to reports, Kumi HIV prevalence is at 2.7 and  Teso as a region is at 4.2.

The district leaders have therefore resolved to step up sensitization of the people on the importance of knowing their status and also following up on the infected to ensure access to ARVs.
