The Rukungiri district chairperson LC5 Mr. Geoffrey Kyomukama has advised people to embrace commercial farming practices to create wealth and prosperity.
Kyomukama made the call yesterday Tuesday, during the launch of Rukungiri Producers Cooperative Union’s farmers training program, which was conducted at their training centre in Kasoroza, Nyakagyeme Sub County Rukungiri district.
A variety of production lines were taught to farmers, including baking, piggery, beekeeping, shoemaking, and cow husbandry.
With assistance from Minister Jim Muhwezi, the Rukungiri Producers Cooperative Union collaborated with Innovations Village Limited and High Mark West Recycling Technologies Limited to provide farmers with training on various production lines.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Lc5 chairperson for Rukungiri district, urged small-scale farmers to adopt an organic agriculture system, which aims to maximize yields while also preserving soil fertility and boosting biodiversity.
He then issued a challenge to the people of Rukungiri district, urging them to adopt high-value crops that need to be grown on tiny amounts of land.

In order to maximize their benefits after implementation, Dr. Akankwatsa urged people to join in commercial farming.
He also advised them to constantly receive training and understanding about farming prior to practice.
