Yesterday, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, representatives from the ministry of Energy and Mineral Development conducted a survey in Rukungiri municipality’s southern, Western and Eastern divisions to find out where individuals need access to power so that they can benefit.
According to Rogers Semakula, a surveyor for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, they received instructions from ministry officials to visit all of the areas in Rukungiri Municipality without electricity after receiving a letter from Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the legislator for Rukungiri Municipality.

Hon. Ruahigwa requested that the government take them into consideration so that they could provide electricity to every village in the municipality, according to the letter.
He praised the minister for dispatching the team to measure and serves the areas in accordance in his request, and he urged the populace to take precautions so that once their areas are connected to electricity, it would enable them to generate income.
He promised to follow up so that the process could begin quickly because it would aid in promoting industrialization in the municipality by helping to establish factories for goods like coffee, among other things, which would lead to job possibilities.

Denis Ngabirano, the LC3 chairperson of the Southern division of Rukungiri municipality, praised the legislator for his idea to provide electricity in their communities since, once linked, it will create development.
He listed a variety of places he had been in his neighborhood, including Kanyinya, Kigaga, Ndorero, and other local wards.

Michael Byarugaba, the political assistant of the Rukungiri municipality lawmaker, as well as Kiganga ward councilor Abram Baryajuna and southern division district councilors, among others, joined the ministry of energy team to make a survey.
