TERRIBLE! Truck carrying mourners from burial in Bundibugyo overturns, kills 5, injures 35


Authorities have reported that following a traffic accident that wounded 35 more people, at least five mourners have been officially declared deceased.

The accident happened on Saturday when the vehicle they were travelling in broke down at Bugombwa Hill, which is located along the Bundibugyo-Nyahuka Road in the Bundibugyo District.

The unfortunate Isuzu Canter was transporting mourners back to Ntotoro Sub-county in Bundibugyo District after their relative’s funeral at Nyahuka Town Council.

Police on Sunday identified the deceased as Federesi Badhedwa (31 years), Godwin Amanya (18 years), Moreen Asiimwe (23 years), Rhoda Thungu (46 years) Tom and Bahemuka (36 years).

Authorities said that the majority of the injured are in severe condition and have been admitted to several hospitals both inside and outside the area.

Abudalla Ssemujju, an accident victim, told thekigezipost.com that he sprang out of the car and fell in the surrounding bush as it started accelerating.

The deceased people’s remains were still in the Bundibugyo Hospital mortuary at the time this story was filed, pending a post-mortem examination.
