Yesterday Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the Security Minister, who also serves as the representative for Rujumbura County in parliament, Hon. Maj. General Jim Muhwezi, officially kicked off construction of a theatre at the Rukungiri Health Center (IV) Rwamahwa in the Eastern Division of the Rukungiri Municipality.
The construction, which will be carried out by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering brigade, is expected to cost the Ugx. 600 million from the government of Uganda under ministry of health and will take six months to complete.
The chief guest, Hon. Major General Jim Muhwezi, praised Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa for exerting greater effort to lobby the facility, stating that the building of the theater is the first step on the path to the general hospital.

Minister Jim Muhwezi urged people to put in a lot of effort toward the advancement of their country given that COVID-19 has had an impact on Uganda, even though it hasn’t had as big of an impact on inflation as it has in other nations, such as America, where the inflation rate is 5.6%.
In order for the people of Rukungiri district to advance both personally and socially, Minister Jim Muhwezi asked them to support and embrace the NRM government’s initiatives.

Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, a representative for the Rukungiri Municipality in Parliament who was also the host MP, praised the Ministry of Health for providing funding for the theatre’s construction as well as the maternity ward, which will also be built by the UPDF Engineering brigade after the theater is finished.
The construction of the theatre according to Hon. Rutahigwa, is an evidence that he is keeping his promises made during the general elections of 2021 promising for more because he is prepared to grow and transform his constituency.

The Rukungiri Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata, thanked the Ugandan government for funding the theatre and maternity ward at Rukungiri Health Center IV Rwamahwa, noting that this will lower the death rate of women and children dying during childbirth and the rate of referral.

The UPDF officer who headed the construction crew, Major Mawanda Francis, highlighted that they are focusing on quality work and value for money and requested assistance from the people to help them produce easy and excellent work.

The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen, the Deputy RDC Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, the Rukungiri district chairperson LC5 Kyomukama Geofrey, as well as other invited visitors, blessed the event.
